The Fixture
Before you get too excited, this isn't something new.
However, I do think it is something special. You see, this Breaks mix is from around 2006, and I'm pretty sure it's from before I played my first show on di.fm.
I dug this out recently and gave it a listen, and what I found remarkable is just how fresh it sounds; in fact, certain tunes were clearly ahead of their time.
This time was (for me) a golden age of mixing - there was no indication of tempo or key, you basically discovered your mix through a huge round of trial and error - endlessly playing one tune after another (basically going through your whole collection until you found something that worked), and if you wanted to play tunes in a certain order, you just kinda found a way to force it through whether it worked or not..
The result is probably one of my best ever mixes, whilst simultaneously being the least likely to have been heard.
It starts off slow, and doesn't really get going until 5 minutes in - this is a epic journey, and should be listened with that in mind - but when it does get going, it drops hard - as any Hybrid track does. Unfortunately I don't have the track list, but just sit back, turn it up, space out and enjoy.
Happy downloading!
